“Where has everyone gone?”

That’s the question fifteen-year-old Annabelle ‘Birdy’ Finch is asking. As a hundred-year storm descends on Los Angeles, Birdy’s not the only one looking for answers to the city’s vanishing population.

A wheelchair-bound Army veteran watches the world from his apartment window, and what he sees terrifies him.

An LA detective has two missing patrol cops, a bloody crime scene, but no bodies.

A desperate mother will stop at nothing in her search to find her daughter.

But the storm that holds California in its grip also provides the perfect cover for an even greater threat; an ancient and terrible evil that stalks the city’s residents, mercilessly hunting them within their homes and on the flooded streets. Together, the survivors must fight to escape their drowning city and the creatures that now roam freely under the cover of perpetual darkness.

Extinction Point: Genesis

Extinction Point: Genesis

I am very happy to announce that the fourth book in my Extinction Point series is now available for pre-order from Amazon.

Extinction Point: Genesis is scheduled for worldwide release on November 3rd, 2015.

After an alien invasion devastates humanity, a battered group of survivors huddles in a remote outpost, fighting to endure in a now-hostile world. Resources are dwindling, and internal power struggles threaten to tear apart the fragile last vestige of human society.

Emily Baxter remains haunted by vivid dreams of Earth’s new masters. With these nightmares comes concern for her son, Adam, the posthuman world’s firstborn child—a child who is ominously marked with red-flecked eyes. While Emily’s husband is off on a dangerous mission, she is accused of committing an unthinkable crime and resolves to clear her name by journeying, along with her stepdaughter and their dog, Thor, into the alien wilderness that was once Earth.

All around Emily lurk mysterious new dangers that threaten her and her companions at every turn. Are these perils the final stages of an apocalyptic invasion or the harbinger of something even worse yet to come?

Extinction Point: Genesis is complete and will be published later in 2015

90,ooo words of alien awesomeness is now on its way to my editor over at 47North.

This one took a while, but I personally think it’s the most exciting story of the entire series, so far, and really changes the dynamics of Emily, Rhiannon, and Thor’s adventures. You won’t be disappointed. Publication date for Extinction Point: Genesis is expected some time later in 2015. When I have a definite date (and pre-order links) I will announce them here and on Facebook.

Stay tuned for updates on what I’ll be working on next ;)

Thanks everyone.

Suffrajitsu: Mrs Pankhurst’s Amazons graphic novel review

Suffrajitsu: Mrs Pankhurst’s Amazons

There are perks to being a writer. One of the big ones is that you get to mingle with some pretty damn awesome artists and read their work before it gets released to the rest of the world. This past weekend I sat down with an advance copy of author Tony Wolf and artist Joao Vieira’s Suffrajitsu: Mrs Pankhurst’s Amazons.

Suffrajitsu Book 1 coverThe comic book world is full of superheroes strutting their stuff, but this… this story is something else again. The early 20th century finds Mrs. Pankhurst and her Suffragettes battling the British establishment for their right to vote.  Taught the ancient martial art of Bartitsu (in our reality Mrs. Pankhurst really did have an all-woman secret society of Jujitsu trained bodyguards) these ladies know how to defend themselves, and they are not afraid to get a little blood on their petticoats to confront an establishment that treats them as second-class citizens.

By the time I was finished with the first installment of this three-part series (which includes a pretty shocking twist that got me checking my history books) I found myself absolutely beguiled by Tony Wolf’s story and the ass-kicking women inhabiting its pages. Joao Vieira’s illustrations are beautiful, the story tight and enthralling. I absolutely recommend this and I can’t wait to read the next two issues.

Suffrajitsu: Mrs Pankhurst’s Amazons  will be released on the Kindle in January, but the author assures me that a collector’s edition of the three planned stories will be released in print sometime in the future

You can find out more about the project from the Suffrajitsu website here.

Thor’s Tale

30 Jul

Ever wondered what happened to Thor before he met Emily? Well today is your lucky day: Thor’s Tale is a short story (about 10,000 words) that fills in the events to your favorite Malamute’s appearance in Extinction Point.

As the story is free I’ve hosted it myself, so getting your hands on it is a little bit more involved than when you buy a book from Amazon. Don’t panic, though. It’s actually pretty simple.

Here’s what you will need to do to read Thor’s Tale on your Kindle:

1) First download the .mobi file of Thor’s Tale by clicking the download link below (make sure you make a note of where you downloaded the file):

2) Check to make sure the email you will be using to send the book is on your approved list

a) click the following link to be taken to your Amazon account

(If you don’t trust my link, just go to Amazon, mouse over Your Account at the top of the screen, and click on Manage Your Account and Devices. )

b) Select the SETTINGS tab on the right, and then scroll down to PERSONAL DOCUMENT SETTINGS

c)Under the APPROVED PERSONAL DOCUMENT LIST, make sure your email address is listed (make sure it’s the same as the email you will be sending Thor’s Tale from). If it’s not listed, then select ADD A NEW APPROVED EMAIL ADDRESS

d) Enter the email address you’d like to add and click ADD ADDRESS

3) Now simply email Thor’s Tale to your email address. There’s no need to put anything in the body of the email, just make sure that the Thor’s Tale file is attached. Once the email is gone, refresh your Kindle and you should see Thor’s Tale in your list of books

4) Enjoy

1) First download the .mobi file of Thor’s Tale by clicking the download link below (make sure you make a note of where you downloaded the file):

Follow the instructions below:

  1. Connect your device to your computer with the USB cable. Your device will appear in the same location on your computer that external USB drives appear.
    • Windows: Your device will appear in the Computer or My Computer folder.
    • Mac: Your device will appear on the desktop.
  2. Open the device folder, and then open the Documents or Internal Documents folder.
  3. Locate the downloaded file on your computer, and then drag and drop the compatible file into the appropriate folder. Depending on your device type, the folder names may vary.
    • For example, on Kindle Paperwhite, move books to the Documents folder. On Kindle Fire tablets, move books to the Books folder.
  4. Safely disconnect your device from your computer once the transfer is complete.

If you have any problems, feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help solve them.

Thank you.

Extinction Point: Revelations available tomorrow (4/8/14)

07 Apr

It’s finally here (well, almost). Extinction Point: Revelations, the third installment of Emily and Thor’s adventure, will be released tomorrow (4/8/14) for the Kindle, in paperback, and audio-book format. Back in 2011, when I first started writing the series, I knew exactly how I wanted Emily’s story to end, but now that I find myself at that destination, it turns out there is still more story to tell. So, I’m officially announcing there will be at least one more book in the EP series, tentatively titled Extinction Point: Genesis. I’m currently working on finishing up my current novel (The Ghosts of Other Worlds), but as soon as that’s in the bag, I’ll begin working on Emily and Thor’s next big adventure. Make sure you stay tuned for more updates.

I want to say a huge thank you to every one of you for your feedback, emails, and comments on Emily’s journey. You guys truly overwhelm me with your enthusiasm and love for Emily and company. I’d love to hear what you think of this latest book, so make sure you drop me an email or leave a comment here (and if you have a chance, a review on Amazon would be greatly appreciated).

Extinction Point: Revelations is complete

21 Jul

EP -- Revelations2

Yay! It’s done.

Nine months and approximately ninety-three-thousand words later (and many, many sleepless nights), and the third book in the Extinction Point series, Revelations, is now complete.

Right now, it’s sitting in my editor’s email Inbox waiting for him to work his magic on it. I have to admit, I am very excited (and also incredibly nervous) about this book.

Estimated publication date is early January.

Extinction Point: Exodus

16 Jun

So, here we are, five days after the release of book-two of Extinction Point ( better late than never, right? for those of you who have been with me since I first self-published this story), and what a phenomenal five days it has been. Exodus has been in the UK Top 100 from day two, and in the top 200 here in the US almost from release. I wanted to thank you all so very much for your support. I am quite honestly speechless at the amount of emails, blog posts, and tweets I have received from you, and I’ve spent the past few days trying to answer everybody who has contacted me directly. I think I’ve caught up, but if I’ve missed you, you have my apologies.

I wanted to highlight a few of the major questions that you asked, right here, but if I miss anything, please feel free to let me know and I will address it as best I can. So, without further ado, here we go:

1) Are there going to be any more books in the Extinction Point series?

Absolutely. I am currently finishing up the third book in the EP series. I had always planned on Extinction Point being a minimum of three books, and that has panned out pretty well. This third book will answer all of the questions posed in the previous two books and will, more importantly, answer a lot, if not all of your questions. I had always planned on the series being a trilogy, but as I near the end of this third book, I find myself thinking about a potential fourth book. Book three WILL conclude Emily’s story, but this newly created, alien-possessed Earth may well open up a whole new story line. I’ll let you know.

2) So, what’s this new book called?

In keeping with the biblical references started with Exodus, book-three is tentatively titled Extinction Point: Revelations, for pretty obvious reasons (see question 1)

3) When will the third book be released?

My publisher, 47North (who incidentally publish many fine books from former self-published and conventionally published authors. Here’s a link ), have a planned release date of January 2014. That is currently up in the air as I have to finish writing the book, but as soon as I know the date-certain for release, I will post it here, on Facebook, and email all of my subscribers.

4)  What can I read by you in the meantime?

For some reason, my self-published novels  don’t seem to be showing up under the name of Paul Antony Jones on Amazon. But you can find my first book Toward Yesterday right HERE if you’re in the US, and HERE for the UK.  Dangerous Places, a collection of three short stories and extended samples of Extinction Point and Toward yesterday, can be found  HERE for the US and HERE for the UK.

Did I miss anything? Feel free to post here and I will answer any questions you have.

Once again, thank you all so much for your support.
